Two views of green energy mandates
Posted August 4th, 2009 at 9:24 AM by SamHThe Winston-Salem Journal weighs in on North Carolina’s renewable energy law, saying “will also support new businesses here, be they wind farms or some other form of fuel-burning power plant…… with those new businesses will come jobs for North Carolinians.”
JLF’s Daren Bakst, citing a Beacon Hill Institute report, says the state’s mandates for renewable energy and energy efficiency “will likely cost the state 3,600 jobs and $1.8 billion in higher electricity rates, while slashing the state’s economy by more than $140 million a year by 2021.”
