UNCG and N.C. A&T are cancelling registrations of students who have not paid their tuition:
“Every lost soul is unacceptable to me, and it really hurts when we have to cancel that many registrations,” said Steve Roberson, UNCG dean of undergraduate studies.
UNCG’s financial aid officer said counselors are steering students away from private loans, instead informing them of options including —you guessed it —federal loans.

Roch has a valid point, Sam, as that is not what the story reports.
However, it is a valid question why the school is discouraging private loans, and pushing federal loans. Why would that be?
