GCS board losing lone conservative voice

The N&R reports Guilford County Board of Education member Paul Daniels —facing a tough District 5 race against challenger Linda Wellborn —- has decided to pull out of the race.

Note commenters to the N&R article don’t let Daniels off easy, wondering why he’s just now coming to this decision, especially since he said he believed the “campaign was winnable.” Maybe he’s finding out otherwise.

Bottom line, however, is the GCS board is losing its lone conservative voice, and that’s too bad.

Like with Garth Hebert, a man can take only so much abuse, before he has to depart. A conservative can not make a difference in that group. It is possibly the most dysfunctional governmental group in the county, which speaks volumes. The Airport High episode showed how incompetent they are. Now, they are trying to impose racial objectives into board oversight. This group has lost all focus on what their mission is; education of students of the county. They are focused on everything, except that mission.
