Tear gas in Center City Park

Greensboro police officers resort to chemical measures to disperse a crowd at Center City Park on July 4th.

The N&R reports three teenagers were arrested.

Update: This morning’s N&R write-up. Police ask the Jimmy John’s sub shop on Elm Street to close for 20 minutes in order to deal with ‘shirtless youngsters’ saying ‘they were going to fight and demanding quick service.’

Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins —who found the noise from Greene Street intolerable— said he saw no signs of a disturbance when he returned to his Center Pointe condo overlooking Center City Park around 11 p.m. Interesting because the N&R reports GPD deployed the tear gas at around 10:45 p.m.
