Raining on Obama’s parade

Man, if you don’t have anything better to do (I may or may not) sit and watch Twitter light up with the news that President Obama’s acceptance speech has been moved indoors.

Meck Deck — my main source for convention coverage —has the official DNC release.

I’ve been watching previous nomination acceptance speeches on C-SPAN the past couple of weeks. Couldn’t help but think indoors was good enough for Jimmy Carter, so it should be good enough for Obama.

Re: Kennedy ‘tribute’

Didn’t see the DNC’s Ted Kennedy tribute, but the N&R’s Doug Clark writes it up.

Bad enough using a dead guy to skewer the opposition, but then:

Overall, the video is very effective political messaging … but it takes one odd little turn at about the 5:30 mark. For nearly half a minute, it morphs into a tribute to Barack Obama, highlighting some of his achievements as president (although somehow leaving out the killing of Osama bin Laden).

It appears the purpose is to show that the torch has been passed directly from Kennedy to Obama … the president is carrying out Kennedy’s agenda.

But it also gives the impression that, at this convention, everything is really about Obama — even a tribute to Ted Kennedy.

Geez, these people have no shame.
