$59 flights to Orlando

Frontier Airlines will make three flights out of PTI to Orlando starting this fall.

PTI authority chairman Henry Isaacson says “it may not seem to be a giant step forward with the airport, but the potential is there,” perhaps for Frontier to make PTI a “focus city.”

N&R downplays it too, calling the extra flights s “small victory.” Interesting to see where it runs in tomorrow’s print edition.

Update:

Today’s story adds Frontier will take advantage of the airport’s $5 per passenger incentive program. But –as an analyst points out —what will Frontier do when the incentives program ends?

W-S will not file brief in Silk Plant Forest case

Following a closed session with City Attorney Angela Carmon, Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines announced the city will not file an amicus brief in support of Kalvin Michael Smith, who is appealing his 20-plus-year sentence for the brutal beating of Jill Marker at the Silk Plant Forest store.

Joines made the announcement with no public discussion or debate, saying the city will release a statement on Friday.
