OK, let’s talk GCS and fed stimulus money

Greetings from Figure Eight. I’m chilling.

Lots of chatter out there about the supposed good intentions behind the Greensboro entourage’s trip to D.C seeking federal stimulus money for a new Guilford County Schools headquarters.

As you can imagine, I don’t even see the good intentions, especially when GCS is going to spend $4 million in stimulus money for 14 administrative positions.

No matter how much I don’t like it, I realize that fed stimulus funding was being factored into the school board’s budget discussions. But it’s still weird how 14 jobs for 14 educrats appear out of thin air while the board moans and groans over budget cuts that board member Garth Hebert called ‘pudding.’

It’s not not just me — parents are complaining about how the money is being spent.
